Midland Exploration acquired recently by map staking a new gold property along the La Pause Fault, interpreted as the potential southeast extension of the Destor-Porcupine Fault, in the Abitibi region of Quebec. This new strategic acquisition is the latest addition to the portfolio of new properties acquired as a result of a major project generation program targeting new gold projects throughout the Abitibi Greenstone Belt.

The Patris gold property is located about 30 kilometres northeast of Rouyn-Noranda and only 5 kilometres southeast of the Dunn property, held by Midland and recently optioned to Osisko Mining Corporation (see press release dated August 11, 2009).  This new Midland acquisition owned at 100 % interest consists of 26 wholly-owned contiguous claims covering a surface area of about 1,085 hectares in La Pause Township.

This new property shows great potential for gold discoveries similar to deposits in the Cadillac and Malartic gold mining camps, as it covers the faulted contact between sediments of the Kewagama Group and mafic and ultramafic volcanic rocks of the Malartic Group over more than 4 kilometres strike length. Several gold showings occur near this contact, namely the Gadoury showing, grading 6.3 g/t Au over 1.0 metre, and the McDermott showing, grading 8.6 g/t Au over 1.2 metres (source: Sigeom-MRNF).

A compilation of previous work indicates that the faulted contact between sedimentary and volcanic rocks has not been covered in a systematic fashion by geophysical means such as induced polarization. Moreover, it has not been drill-tested over a strike length of more than 4 kilometres.
